Struggling publisher Eidos is pinning its hopes on Lara Croft to fill its coffers once more as it announces a new set of downloadable content (DLC) for the Xbox 360 version of the action-platformer. Tomb Raider: Underworld – Beneath the Ashes will be released onto Xbox LIVE marketplace on February 10th.

Eidos has announced that it has received a preliminary acquisition bid for the company, which holds the rights to the iconic Tomb Raider series. The UK publisher has stated that talks are at “a very early stage” and hasn’t yet revealed the name of its suitor.
Faced with disappointing sales of Tomb Raider: Underworld and plummeting share prices, Eidos is considering how it can adapt their grave-robbing posh bird heroine Lara Croft to best appeal to a wider market.
Eidos’ creative director and games industry luminary, Ian Livingstone, has hit out at the government over its failure to see the potential of the UK’s games industry. Calling Labour’s attitude “madness”, Livingstone told a recent interview that Britain will lose valuable people, skills and IPs if something isn’t done to give more incentive to developers and publishers in this country.
Lara’s back, and making up for lost time in this explosive new trailer for the upcoming Tomb Raider: Underworld. It’s not all good news though: it looks like she’s ditched the hotpants.
