The Canon EOS 1100D DSLR has been outed today alongside the new Canon EOS 600D, and it’s pitched as the perfect novice big boy shooter. Inside is a 12.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, with 9-point auto focus and the ability to shoot 720p HD video, and you can apply various filters on the fly using Basic+ and Creative Auto modes, to give that in vogue Instagram effect to photos which aren’t rubbish to begin with.

As for whether the Canon EOS 1100D DSLR is indeed the perfect entry level model, you’ll have to sit tight until our full review. The Canon EOS 1100D DSLR is out in April, priced up at £459.

Canon EOS 600D DSLR unveiled: photos

The Canon EOS 600D DSLR leads Canon’s wave of announcements today. Primed as a replacement for the 550D entry level DSLR, it’s packing an 18 megapixel sensor capable of 1080p video recording, with a new onboard “Feature Guide” to help beginners frame shots – akin to what Sony provides on its NEX cameras.

The Canon EOS 600D DSLR goes on sale in April, with priciest starting at £679, but you can check out the photos of it right here in our gallery.
