O2′s data network is down for Pay Monthly customers, O2 has announced. If you’re struggling to get online via your smartphone, then be aware that there’s a fault.

O2 is aiming to fix the problem by 11:45am. O2′s data status reads: “If you’re a Pay Monthly customer (using wap.o2.co.uk) there’s a chance your phone won’t always connect to the internet. You can still call or text as normal. Picture messaging is also affected so your message might take longer to send and you might need to send it again if you had a failure.”

UPDATE: O2 has now said that the problem will be fixed by 12:30.

UPDATE: There’s now no time frame given for when the problem will be fixed. Drop us a line in the comments if you get back online!

While intentions might ultimately lead to users staying, given the incentives mobile networks offer, it’s a strong indicator of the opinion of T-Mobile users after the blunder. Only 8 per cent of readers who voted said that you were happy on T-Mobile, and used less than 500MB a month, and only 4 per cent said that you were happy to pay extra for data.
