It’s Friday! Rebecca Black’s famous song may be no more on YouTube, but we’re honouring its memory with a festive roundup of all the morning’s tech news. Read on and get all of it right here!
It’s taken its time, but ZeptoLabs’ smash hit iPhone game Cut The Rope is now available on Android. The port is available for free on GetJar with ad-support, and is coming to other Android app stores soon, we’re told.
We love Cut The Rope, so the news that it is following Angry Birds in the Christmas-themed app theme is welcome. Cut The Rope Holiday Gift will feature 25 new levels with a Christmas theme and new Christmas Sock teleport function. There’ll also be candy-cane covered new menus, festive music and new achievements to get. It’ll be free but Chillingo, the developer, hasn’t announced exactly when Cut The Rope Holiday Gift will be released but it’ll be here before Christmas!
Last week we asked you whether Angry Birds was still the best iPhone game, or if it could be toppled when Cut the Rope gets its update. The verdict is in, and you said that Angry Birds has still got it. 63 per cent of you said that Angry Birds was the best iPhone game, and only 32 per cent said Cut the Rope was better. A handful of you had ideas of your own, with DoodleJump mentioned, as well as (humourously) Alex Kidd on the Sega Mastersystem. Question now is, is Angry Birds better than Alex Kidd??
Cut the Rope just passed the three million download mark. We’re obsessed with Om Nom (who is way cuter than Rovio’s birds and pigs), and the Angry Birds franchise efforts are making it increasingly uncool. There’s an update on the way for Cut the Rope too, which updates for retina display, adds 25 levels, 11 achievements, and zero gravity. There’s also an Android version in the pipeline. Cut the Rope is already snapping at the heels of Angry Birds in the App Store charts. When the iPhone update arrives, will Cut the Rope take top spot? You tell us!
