Good news for fans of Crysis 2-style carnage. Crytek has announced that it’s bringing Warface, its free-to-play online FPS, to Europe in 2012. The game which uses the same CryEngine 3 architecture as Crysis 2 was originally announced for release in Asia later last year but it’ll now march into the UK too.

Warface is set in the near-future and features military missions with both competitive battle and co-op modes. It’ll be exclusive to PC and Crytek is promising to pump out plenty of updates to keep players coming back. We’re intrigued to see what it can offer with all that graphical power to draw on. Could Warface give Call of Duty and Battlefield 3‘s online offerings a run for their money? Take a look at the teaser trailer after the break and let us know what you make of it…

Rumours around a new Xbox to succeed the Xbox 360 are a hardly perennial of the gadget rumour mill. This time, despite lots of speculation that a new console won’t arrive until 2013 at the earliest, an anonymous source at Crysis 2 developer Crytek claims a next gen Xbox prototype is already being used to develop TimeSplitters 4.

Beyond the fact that TimeSplitters 4 doesn’t seem like it would be the highest priority title to prepare for a new Xbox, Kinect games are selling well and Microsoft has just announced a pile of big titles for 2012, notably Halo 4. We’d love to see a new console from Microsoft in 2012 but we think this one will remain firmly in the box marked “wishful thinking”.

Good news Crysis 2 fans. A Crysis 2 DirectX 11 patch looks set to pop up imminently. German PC gaming site, PCGames.de says the patch is due to arrive tomorrow. That’s good news especially as Crysis 2 really should have shipped with it in the first place given that most PC gamers expect to see that support there from the off.

So Crysis 2…you’ve been waiting for it right? It was delayed last year and punted forward to a March release. However, it looks like someone wasn’t willing to wait that long and Crysis 2 has leaked in a big way. The whole game including the files needed to swerve around the game’s DRM have popped up online and the forums are buzzing with folk getting their hands on Crysis 2 ahead of time.
