The Sony Playstation Vita has many tasty tricks up its sleeve, including 3G connectivity for web browsing and, of course, multiplayer gaming at your nearest bus stop. Today, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced that its officially partnered with Vodafone to provide such on-the-fly online gaming, with a cheeky added bonus to 3G PS Vita customers also on the cards. UPDATE: False alarm, peeps. Activision has since issued a retraction, stating that Tony Hawk: Ride will NOT be an Xbox 360 exclusive and WILL be coming to PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Crossed wires at Activision are believed to be the cause of the confusion.

Tony Hawk: Ride is shaping up to be an exciting reboot to Mr Hawk’s tired old skating franchise. As we mentioned before it packs a brand new board peripheral that could seriously one-up the EA’s new skateboarding king, Skate. THR originally stated that Tony Hawk: Ride is due to launch on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii, but in the UK, there’s a troubling rumour that Microsoft may be negotiating an exclusivity deal to boost its 2009 line-up.

The Sony PS3 console is to get a serious price cut, with Sony announcing this “in the next couple of days”. The savings will come because Sony is introducing a version of the PS3 without its Blu-ray disc drive. At least, that’s what Mike Hickey, analyst at Janco Partners believes.

Xbox 360 is leading the PS3 in Europe, according to Microsoft – and it reckons it has the figures to prove it. The data comes from GfK Chart-Track, which estimates the Xbox 360 has sold approximately one million units more than PS3, and stands at odds with the claims Sony was making in May last year.
