According to an anonymous source who apparently attended Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s Staff Annual Briefing (held last Friday in London), Sony have big plans for both the PS3 and PSP in 2009.
NPD data has shown that Sony sold 190,000 PS3s in the US in October, with Microsoft Xbox 360s selling nearly double that at 371,000. Nintendo, of course, still holds top spot, with the Wii selling more than four times the number of PS3s – 803,000. Perhaps it’s time for Sony to rethink that no price cut policy?
There’s still no sign of it appearing on the Xbox 360 (it was due before Christmas, remember Rockstar?). But Grand Theft Auto IV’s downloadable content (DLC) will be coming to the PS3 eventually. As will other supposedly “exclusive” content DLC for the 360, like that for Fallout 3 and Tomb Raider: Underworld. According to Ray Maguire, Sony Computer Entertainment UK’s Managing Director.
