Last week we reported that the PSP was holding onto the number one slot in hardware sales in Japan, by quite a margin. Now last week’s release of Metal Gear Solid 4 means both the PSP and PS3 are way ahead in the Land of The Rising Sun.

It wasn’t long ago that Sony’s PSP was accused of having no direction. But you wouldn’t know it over in Japan. The all singing all dancing handheld has fought off competition from everyone to keep pole position at the top of the Japanese hardware sales charts.
