Last week we reported on our tests on Wi-Fi hotspots around central London. We found that 33 per cent of the BT Openzone hotspots we tried were not responsive. We classed something as unresponsive when it either wasn’t there, we couldn’t log in, or couldn’t load the log in page. BT Openzone, while its failure rate wasn’t as bad as The Cloud, had much poorer speeds. Today, BT Openzone has responded to the results.

BT has launched a free mobile app for iPhone and Android, reportedly taking the pain out of connecting to one of the company’s 1.6 million Wi-Fi hotspots. The app gives BT Total Broadband customers an automatic connection to any BT OpenZone and BT FON hotspots within range.
