If you’re a big fan of media streaming and have a Slingbox and a Boxee Box in your living room arsenal, here’s some good news: a Slingplayer Boxee Box app. An early version was on show at a gdgt even in New York where it was spied by Engadget.

It reports that the Slingplayer Boxee Box app takes its design cues from the current SlingPlayer mobile apps and appeared to work like a charm. It will also be coming to Google TV but since we’re still waiting for Google to bring it to this side of the Atlantic, that’s by-the-by.

Sling says the SlingPlayer Boxee Box app will pop up in the list available apps in the next month and will be free during the beta period. There’s no word on the price once it graduates to a finished service yet but we’ll be chasing Sling for more details.

Great Boxee news! A free Boxee iPad app will arrive in Q2 of this year. It’ll bring access to your home network context with real-time conversion to iOS-friendly formats and will grab video from your Twitter and Facebook feeds. There’ll also be a selection of featured video content and you’ll be able to grab clips and shows from the Boxee software on the Boxee Box or a PC/Mac to watch later. Boxee also outed a partnership with Viewsonic. The Viewsonic Boxee TV will come packing the same Intel Atom CE4100 processor as the Boxee Box. It’ll be 46in but there’s no news on pricing or availability next.

Iomega TV: Boxee branches out

The Iomega TV is the Boxee Box for folk who like their boxes more box like. It lacks the outrageous styling of the Boxee Box but that should mean it’ll slide amongst the other kit beneath your TV more easily. It’ll arrive packing the same UI, the same Intel CE4100 processor and a decidedly similar QWERTY-packing remote.

The Iomega TV also has DLNA skills, built-in 802.11n WiFi and up to 2TB of internal storage as well as the ability to act as a NAS device. US pricing runs from $229.99 for the cheapest model with no internal storage up to $249.99 for the 2TB model. The Iomega TV is out in February and we’ll be scouring CES 2011 to get our hands on one and find those elusive UK prices and release dates for you.
