Tesco has announced a move to embrace digital movies by partnering with Blinkbox and offering to hand them out to customers when they pay for one of a select list of Blu-Rays or DVDs. It’s part of what the supermarket hopes will “help start a digital revolution,” and may pave the way for a big shift in movie buying. Read more

The Wii U will use proprietary discs packing 25GB of data, almost exactly the same size as Blu-ray discs, but don’t expect it to play them or DVDs for that matter. Just like the Wii before it, the Wii U is shunning both formats entirely.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata explained the decision at a meeting of investors and analysts. He’s unapologetic about the ommission because, hell, you’ve already got a DVD player already haven’t you? Read on for his exact words…

The next in an ever increasing line of platforms and brands to get Lovefilm access is Samsung. Specifically, its line of Blu-ray players will be getting Lovefilm access via a downloadable widget app for the Samsung Internet@TV hub. All you’ll need to get access to Lovefilm on demand content is a Lovefilm subscription of £5.99 per month or more. The app is live, and users can download it from today.
