The makers of today’s best iPhone apps entry, 8-bit Pocket Camera, hint pretty heavily at what they set out to do (“…take photos just like a certain retro video game camera from 1998!”) but we’ll come right out and say it: this app is basically a Gameboy camera stuffed into your iPhone…

Lots of the photography apps in our best iPhone apps library are very practical but today’s is not one of them. Everyday is inspired by Noah Kalina’s Everyday project where he has taken a picture of himself once a day, every day for the past 11 years. Everyday allows you to do the same thing with the goal of generating a video that will show how you change over time.

Everyday will remind you once a day to take a snap and provides you with a grid or overlay of the last snap you took to make sure you picture yourself in the same pose each day. You can also share your Everyday snaps via Facebook, Tumblr or Flickr. Everyday is a single purpose app but it’s fun to start stacking up the pictures. You can see a video of today’s best iPhone apps choice, Everyday, after the break…

Lots of the games in our best iPhone apps) or killer graphics (Infinity Blade). Today’s entry has neither of those but it is insanely addictive. If you were a whizz at Boggle (or even vaguely enjoyed it), Swipe Four will feel familiar.

The object of Swipe Four is to make as many four letter words as possible on the grid, racking up multipliers and extra points on the way. The game uses the same dictionary as Word With Friends and challenging enough to get you seriously addicted in your downtime. If you like word games, you’ll love Swipe Four. Highly recommended.

If you find iPhoto a nightmare and just want to fling images between your iPhone and Mac/PC/iPad/another iPhone, you really need PhotoSync. It’s easily one of the best iPhone apps for handling photos we’ve ever come across. Hook up both devices via WiFi and PhotoSync lets you sling photos back and forth and directly import them into Aperture or iPhone.

PhotoSync lets you send images directly between iPhones, iPod touches and iPads via WiFi or Bluetooth and direct Flickr uploading’s baked in there too. The Mac App Store and PC versions of PhotoSync are free. See today’s best iPhone apps entry in action after the break…

Today’s best iPhone apps entry is an odd one – a puzzle game with a blind man and his guide dog at its heart. That might sound bad taste but this game is just beautifully made with Sr Mistu (the blind man) and Gaido (his little guide dog) on a mission to collect olives to top his pizza while trying to avoid getting squashed.

The gameplay is simple (you draw the route for Gaido to lead Mistu to the end and collect olives on the way) but the levels ramp up in difficulty nicely and the graphics and music are charming. Definitely worth a purchase. See today’s best iPhone apps nominee in action after the break…

Our best iPhone apps column doesn’t usually feature children’s apps. In fact, this may well be the very first time we’ve featured a full-on kid’s app but Nursery Rhymes with StoryTime justifies that. At first glimpse, Nursery Rhymes appears to be a fully animated story book with a selection of classic fairy stories built-in (The Owl And The Pussycat, Jack And Jill etc) but it has a killer feature, the StoryTime bit…

Djay is my favourite djing app on the Mac (you can nab it in the Mac App Store here), so the arrival of the Djay iPhone app was welcome news. It’s not as fully featured as its iPad or Mac siblings but it’s a brilliant distillation of the best bits into a small screen version.

Djay is a great entry into the music section of our best iPhone apps thanks to features including the ability to record your mixes, beat match songs, adjust EQs, loop and cue. Fling it into automix mode and its like you’ve got a professional DJ in your pocket using your music collection. If you like messing about making your own DJ mixes, Djay is the best iPhone app we’ve come across so far. Check it the Djay iPhone app out on video after the jump…
