We got pretty excited about Avatar Kinect when it was unveiled earlier this year, going so far as to compare it to the Star Trek Holodeck. Today it’s finally be release as part of the Kinect Fun Labs service which lets Xbox Live users mess around with Kinect experiments. Avatar Kinect uses the motion sensor to track not only your gestures but also your facial expressions.
The update including Avatar Kinect is available for free as a 658.59 MB download from Xbox.com. While Avatar Kinect will eventually require an Xbox Live Gold subscription, it’s unlocked for all Xbox Live member until September 8 with of 24 virtual environments to choose from and the option to share your virtual TV shows via sites including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
