When we say terrifying Steve Jobs art there, we mean terrifyingly bad. For example, check this one out, where a wonky-faced Steve Jobs has his skull carved open to reveal what appears to be some knitting needles and an iPod nano, set against a backdrop of flaming Apple icons. “Think differently” it reads. We don’t usually get arty farty here at Electricpig towers, but this time, it involves lasers. As of last night, the Tate Liverpool and FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) art galleries were connected by a giant green glowing laser beam. The laser beam travels 800 metres as the crow flies, as part of the exhibition by new media artist Nam June Paik and to mark the 50th anniversary of the laser.

We’re still feeling pretty down about the loss of Free Radical Design which collapsed earlier in the month, closing its doors to employees and shattering our hopes for TimeSplitters 4. The game was clearly quite a bit beyond merely an idea being tossed around; there were already model designs being worked on, which now serve no purpose other than to flesh out one artist’s web portfolio.
