If you haven’t been able to install Mac OS X Lion from the Mac App Store, Apple has now added the Mac OS X Lion USB thumb drive to its online store.

You’ll pay a penalty for not having high speed broaband or a bricks and mortar Apple Store to grab the download at though. The Mac OS X Lion USB thumb drive costs £55, a cool £34 more than the software will set you back in the Mac App Store.

New Apple Time Capsules start at £249 and offer up to 3TB of storage  We’ve spotted two new Time Capsules headed to the Apple Store. The upgraded units come in your choice of 2TB or 3TB capacities and are priced at £249.00 and £399.00 respectively.

Interestingly both units are not live while searching the Apple Store from within the UK, but here in the US we’ve got both in our sights. Compared to the previous generation 1TB and 2TB units (£173.00, £326.00), the new price points are much more competitive.

Apple Store employees have been told there’ll be no days off in late May which happens to be when the Apple Store‘s 10th birthday rolls around. Apple retail employees were told this week via email that they’ll be needed between May 20 and May 22. Now what could be planned for those days?

Square, the mobile payments company founded by Twitter’s Jack Dorsey, has scored a real win – placement in the Apple Store. Apple is now selling the Square hardware which hooks into an iPhone/iPod touch and lets anyone process and manage credit card payments.

The Square device is the only payments product featured in US Apple stores. It’s selling for $9.95 but users get $10 of credit when they sign up for an account and the apps are free.

iPad 2 resellers cash in while solving China’s iPad 2 shortageJust when you thought the iPad 2 craze was winding to a close, a story in the New York Times sheds light on what’s really going with Cupertino’s newest slate. Apparently, iPad 2 resellers in New York City are still spending nights in the cold, waiting to pick up as many units as Apple’s SoHo store is willing to sell. With a feeding frenzy for iPad 2s in China, resellers are cashing in as much as $400 a day shipping units overseas.
