Apple beats Android to the punch, offers seven-day refund policy in Taiwan: Is the UK next?Android’s 15-minute refund window is hardly enough time to decide whether an app hits the mark. Though short, that’s still 15 more minutes than iOS users have with purchases from the App Store — until today. Apple has amended its terms and conditions for the Taiwan App Store, including a statement saying users can be reimbursed within seven days of receiving the purchased product once all copies are deleted.

The move comes on the heels of pressure by Taipei’s city government to meet the city’s consumer protection act. Google was also urged to change its Android Market return window, but failed to budge and settled with a fine. Why did Apple decide to play ball and will the UK be next to land a seven-day refund policy?

The search giant broke news by announcing it was activating an unprecedented 550,000 devices per day and Android sales now total 135 million. On the app front, the Market now hosts over 250,000 apps, shortening the lead held by the Apple App Store. The success of Android has helped Google’s second quarter revenues jump 32 percent year-over-year. At this point can anything stop Google from winning?

Developer claims 90 percent of its iOS sales are pirated: Does the App Store have a dirty little secret?With over 17,000 active gamers playing its game ‘Fingerkicks’, software developer Gamized was surprised to see its iTunesConnect purchase report show only 1,163 copies sold. Gamized believes Apple has a major piracy problem on its hands and addressed the Cupertino team by calling the problem “humiliating”.

Gamized enter the app rush producing games for other companies. It was not until earlier this year that it decided to stake its claim with the launch of ‘Fingerkicks’. The soccer game quickly landing more than 17,000 active players after just a few days on the App Store. Under normal circumstances this would signal success.
