Running low on gaming titles for your LG Optimus 3D? LG has just demonstrated the world’s first OpenGL-based 2D to 3D conversion engine for smartphones at IFA 2011 in Berlin. The conversion engine will be included in the first maintenance release for the Optimus 3D in October. Any previously purchased 2D games will become 3D-enabled with the push of a button.
The European version of the HTC EVO 3D will not be denied. At least three online retailers now list the phone in stock including GumMobile, Unlocked Mobiles and Handtec. Pricing starts at £497.99 including VAT, but if owning HTC’s first stereoscopic monster without a contract is any consolation it should be money well spent.

The company’s price cut of its 3D portable console kicks off in the UK tomorrow with even deeper savings than previously expected. Sony Ericsson is prepared to blur the line between tablet and smartphone with its upcoming 4.7-inch 3D display. The massive display will be featured on the company’s first 3D phone, a device many believe will arrive early next year. Unfortunately mystery phone lacks a name, but we have confirmed it will support glasses-free 3D technology and runs at HD 1280×720 pixel resolution. Do we really need another 3D smartphone?
Step aside iPhone 4 and your Retina display, Hitachi has just unveiled its 4.5-inch glasses-free 3D display with an equally impressive pixel density of 326 ppi. That’s right, Retina sharp graphics on a larger four an a half inch display, but running at 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. Will this be the screen used in the follow up to the HTC EVO 3D and LG Optimus 3D?
Not only is Hitachi’s 4.5-inch glasses-free 3D display razor sharp, it’s also an IPS LCD display. That means you can expect incredible viewing angles and color accuracy, but most importantly — visibility in direct sunlight. These are not the only tricks Hitachi is bringing to the table.
