LG’s OpenGL conversion tool takes smartphone gaming to the third dimensionRunning low on gaming titles for your LG Optimus 3D? LG has just demonstrated the world’s first OpenGL-based 2D to 3D conversion engine for smartphones at IFA 2011 in Berlin. The conversion engine will be included in the first maintenance release for the Optimus 3D in October. Any previously purchased 2D games will become 3D-enabled with the push of a button.

At least three online retailers now list the phone in stock including GumMobile, Unlocked Mobiles and Handtec. Pricing starts at £497.99 including VAT, but if owning HTC’s first stereoscopic monster without a contract is any consolation it should be money well spent.
