At a demo of the Motorola Xoom (with Google showing off the latest build of Android Honeycomb 3.0 on the Xoom too) we heard that not only does the Xoom have all the shiny new UIs and knick knacks of Android Honeycomb 3.0, it’s also got a barometer. This won’t just tell you the weather though, it also effectively cranks the GPS skills of the Motorola Xoom up a notch.

Hardware specs for Android tablets getting an Android Honeycomb update have leaked, despite there being no official announcement about the next Android OS. It means that the Samsung Galaxy Tab will not qualify for Android Honeycomb, and so won’t be getting an upgrade.

Android Honeycomb 2.4 not 3.0?

Android Honeycomb, the Android 3.0 we’ve been expecting after Christmas, could in fact be 2.4, potentially pushing back the release of the 3.0 to later in the year. As it stands, Android Honeycomb still looks like it’s the first Android build for tablets, but that the Android 3.0 tag is being saved “for something big”.

iPad is still king of the tablets

Yesterday we asked you if the flurry of new tablets that were hitting the shelves now and in the next few months mean that the iPad would be knocked off top dog spot in the tablet stakes. 47 per cent of you said that the iPad is still king, and it will be for some time. 38 per cent of you though, said that the iPad would be toppled by the arrival of Android for tablets, Android 3.0. Only 13 per cent said the iPad had already been toppled, and a couple of people said the BlackBerry PlayBook and webOS would topple the iPad when they arrive.
