Apple history lesson of the day: Apple execs actually tried to kill the famous 1984 Mac ad which has gone on to be one of the company’s most enduring promo spots. In AdWeek, Steve Hayden who worked on the commercial reveals that executives actually tried to kill the Ridley-Scott-directed spot. When Steve Jobs presented the 1984 Mac Ad, which skewered IBM, to the board of directors it was panned and the chairman, Mike Markula, asked if they could fire the ad agency!
