The Samsung N310 is a premium netbook that comes with a whole host of cool and exciting features. One of these is the CyberLink YouCam, which is a 1.3-Megapixel webcam, and associated software that sits neatly above the 10.1-inch screen of the N310 netbook.
The camera is supported by a great software application called CyberLink YouCam that works with all the leading Instant Messaging services, including Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! and AOL. You’ll even find that it readily works with Skype, so you can make the most of free video calls using your Samsung N310.
You’ll need to setup the CyberLink YouCam using your preferred Instant Messaging service. For example, in Windows Live Messenger you need to go to Tools>Video and Audio and run the automated wizard. This will identify the webcam and then allows you to select the CyberLink YouCam from the options available.
Once you have a connection you’ll be able to get to grips with the main layout, which consists of a large capture window, with video and snapshot capture options above it.
To the left there are a host of Emoticons you can add to your video chats, including superhero special effects, to having birds flying above your friend’s head – all of which can be captured and adds to the fun of being online with your Samsung N310 netbook.
To the right of the screen you’ll find all the videos you’ve captured, which can be emailed and shared with friends with just a couple of clicks. What’s more, this latest version also has integrated YouTube support, so once you’ve created your video you can instantly upload it to your favourite YouTube channel.
If you want to change of the setting on your CyberLink YouCam you’ll find this incredibly easy to do. The camera defaults to a 640 x 480-pixel window but you can choose to change the size of this, along with the quality of the captured video. You’ll find it easy to change the settings and its worth exploring as it’ll help you make the most of your Samsung N310 netbook.
The CyberLink YouCam is a fantastic addition to the Samsung N310 netbook and the included software makes it incredibly easy to get to grips with.
