Following the strategy it has adopted with The Sims, Electronic Arts is to release its first expansion pack for Spore in November 18, according to a listing that was briefly placed on its own US download store (and following brief listings on US Amazon and other retailers).
Microsoft quashes Xbox 360 Blu-ray rumours for the millionth time
Here we go again. Despite persistent rumours about Microsoft releasing a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360, or integrating the format into the console itself, the firm has declared yet again that it has no plans to do any such thing.
Fallout 3 hits pirate networks three weeks ahead of launch
Fallout 3, Bethesda Softworks’ reimagining of the brilliant Fallout series, is still weeks away from launching. That hasn’t stopped the pirates though. Dodgy copies of the game, which can be played on modified Xbox 360 consoles, are already spreading like wildfire on Bit Torrent websites.
Nintendo DS Korg DS-10 Synthesizer now available in the UK
In a refreshing case of Britain Gets Something Before America, the Korg DS-10 Synthesizer for the Nintendo DS has just launched this side of the pond.
Developed by AQ Interactive, this clever bit of music creation software packs a complete Korg MS-10 synth inside the handheld device. Wii Music suddenly seems a bit rubbish.
PSP Plus lets you play PSP games with your PS3 controller, eventually
Sony is bringing Sixaxis and Dual Shock 3 compatibility to the PSP, albeit in a very long-winded way. The new PSP Plus system announced at TGS 2008 will let you drop the PSP’s dodgy analogue button thing in favour of proper console controls.
Halo 3: Recon announced at Tokyo Games Show
After a last minute decision, no new Halo title was announced at E3 earlier this year. Instead Microsoft saved it for its TGS keynote. It’s not just an ordinary sequel either; it’s a Halo 3 spin-off, and it is expected to land in Fall 2009.
Wii Music will start tuning up on November 14th
Nintendo has settled on a release date of its upcoming musical gaming experience, Wii Music. The game will be launching across Europe on the 14th of November.
Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour, eat your heart out; Wii Music includes over 60 instruments to experiment with. You can play along and conduct over 50 tracks from music of various styles, including some classic gaming tunes.
