More Eee PC models coming: 701SD revealed

Asus clearly doesn’t want to lose its mini laptop crown to all the new upstarts entering the market. In addition to the high end Ultimate and Pro Fashion models that were recently revealed it looks like the original 700 series line will also get an overhaul.

Buffalo has announced a pair of expansion boards that can boost the Asus Eee PC 901’s solid state storage to 32GB and 64GB. The 901 sports a 20GB solid state drive by default, so these should make a simple (and hopefully affordable) solution for storage hungry users.

The Eee PC is clearly a big deal for its makers Asus: a leaked roadmap slide shows they’re planning on releasing 23 different models in total, including “extreme slim and light” S101 and S91 editions that come under the enticing heading of “ultimate”. Okay, Asus, you’ve got our attention - now spill the beans! As soon as we know more, we’ll let you know.
