Over the last couple of weeks I have been using the N50 quite intensely and it has definitely grown on me. But now it is time to say our goodbyes and for me to give my final verdict on the N50.

It saddens me to report that since this morning the dinosaurs are officially extinct. My pet dino, who so faithfully warmed my feet for all these years, has died. After years of loyal service, being started after the last 2 ½ weeks of rest must have been too much for the poor creature and it quietly passed away in its sleep.
As you are probably aware of by now the N50 comes equipped with software that performs facial recognition and fingerprint scanning for login. Today I’m to see how good they actually work and if they can be fooled MacGyver style. I have accepted a long time ago I’m no James Bond, so no fancy gadgets for me, just whatever I could find around the house would have to do.
For years manufacturers have been trying to make computers more portable and now I’m going to do exactly the opposite by turning the Asus N50 back into a desktop and seeing how it measures up. So today is all about those days you need to get some real work done and a sofa, 15 inches and a touchpad just don’t cut it. Or in other words computer evolution in reverse.
Yes dear readers there has been trouble in paradise. Windows 7 has literally turned my world upside and on top of that it would no longer respond to my touch. All good relationships go through a rough patch every so often, but will we be able to kiss and make up or is this the end of the road for Windows 7 and me?
If you haven’t been living under the IT equivalent of a rock the last couple of months it has been hard to miss that Microsoft will be releasing a new Operating System soon. With the public (retail) launch planned for the end of October and the Release to manufacturing (RTM) version predicted to be done somewhere mid July I figured I would give the Windows 7 Release Candidate a spin.
One of the main advantages of a laptop is that besides being a dutiful work horse it can also act as your travel companion. Luckily, we have come a long way since the original portable computers which were suitcases so massive that you wouldn’t be allowed to check them in at many airlines not to mention have them as your carry on. Though when it comes to travelling with a laptop Antoine De Saint-Exupery (1900 – 1944) put it best when he said “He who would travel happily must travel light”.
After trying N50 around the house for just over a week it was time to take it onto the road. Laptops are meant to have an attention span longer than their power cords so it was time to see how well the N50 handled on the move. But before our road trip I had to find something to put it in.
