When is a handheld games console not a handheld games console? When, like the Wikipad, it’s too big to be taken on the train. Nintendo’s trying to enter this new space with the Wii U by letting users play serious console games at home on their own screen, but now the Wii U not the only player in the game, and Nintendo should be very worried... Nintendo has announced its financial results for the first quarter ending at the end of June, and things aren't looking too rosy. The company lost 10.3 billion yen - that's $132m, or £85m in proper money. Though that's actually an improvement on the same period last year, when it lost 37.7 billion yen. Tough times. Read more

OnLive’s pretty amazing. When you think about how far your streamed gaming content has to travel, and how fast, the tech involved is a damn miracle. If you’ve got a good enough connection, that is. Thing is, when it landed on Android, the scope of its powers was largely limited to games with rejigged touchscreen controls, but will a marriage between the Nexus 7 and the wireless OnLive controller be the making of both Google’s tablet and the service itself?  Read more
