When Samsung first started taking the world of the 5-inch handset seriously, we balked. But then the Galaxy Note (and now the Galaxy Note 2) sold well enough to garner everyone’s attention, and now both Sony and HTC are readying their own versions. The J Butterfly is HTC’s answer, and it’s a little bit good.
As revealed on HTC’s Japanese website, the HTC J Butterfly is a 5-inch monster with an LCD 3 display that kicks out a frankly startling 440ppi resolution.
Under that nestles the current darling of the chipset scene, the quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro. That’s backed up with 2GB of RAM, and the whole thing ticks along on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
The camera, meanwhile, is a meaty 8-meg number. The J Butterfly will be available in Japan in red and white, but there’s no word on an international launch. We’ve got our fingers crossed: this is a mighty fine looking handset.
