Still finding faults with Apple Maps in iOS 6? It’s certainly got a way to go to match up to the mapping software it replaced. Still, if you are desperate to bring Google Maps back you can always go to the mobile site. And guess what? It’s about to get a lot more useful.
Anyone using iOS 6 who pines for the good old days of Google Maps can go to the mobile site and add it as a bookmark on their home screen, but in its current iteration it’s not as fully-featured as the old app.
While a dedicated Google Maps app is apparently on the way, Google has now announced that it’s working to bring Street View to the mobile site which you’ll be able to access in Safari. That’s top news, but is it a sign that the big G is worried?
If Apple decides that it can justifiably block the Google Maps app from the App Store, Google will have to pump all its energies into making the mobile site as flawless as a proper app.
With Street View now on the way, could this end up being the case?
