The latest version of Apple’s operating system was only unleashed to the world yesterday, but enterprising fiddlers have already gone and jailbroken it.
The bad news? It’ll only work on older devices. Namely, the iPhone 4, 3GS, and fourth-generation iPod Touch.
These guys don’t hang around. Less than 24 hours after iOS 6 broke cover, people have already jailbroken it. So you can rid yourself of the shackles Apple imposes on the OS.
The usual disclaimer applies – it’ll invalidate your warranty, and it’s completely unofficial, so you download at your own risk. It also won’t work on newer devices; only the iPhone 4, 3GS and fourth generation iPod Touch will play nice with it. So bad luck if you have an iPhone 5 (early, somehow), iPhone 4S, iPad, or fifth generation iPod Touch.
It’s a tethered jailbreak, so you’ll have to perform it every time you start up the device. Which is a bit of a pain. There’s no untethered version available yet.
