Windows 8′s release date is set in stone. On October 26th, the next iteration of Microsoft’s desktop and tablet OS will launch – as will a raft of new devices to support it. Sony’s Vaio range is coming along for the ride, with the Vaio Duo 11; a handsome looking hybrid that’s just had its beans spilled all over the web.
With an 11-inch screen and thin form factor, the Vaio Duo 11 almost definitely has the MacBook Air in its sights. And, appropriately, it’s got a few tricks up its sleeve to battle Apple’s diminutive laptop.

A full-sized tactile keyboard is the main one here; it’s permanently attached, but can be slid away out of reach for when you just want to navigate Windows 8 via touch. The leaked photos also reveal a smart stylus for handwriting notes and the like.
Unfortunately, the internal specs, price and release date are still a mystery. Still, it’s good to see Sony taking the potential of Windows 8 seriously. From the looks of things, the hybrid market is about to explode.
