Praise be! Facebook as seen fit to update it’s lackluster iPhone app, and it’s done so in fine style. For the first time in a long time, it doesn’t make you want to tear your eyes out. Time to get updating…
The Facebook iPhone app has just ticked over into version 5.0. Although ‘ticking over’ is perhaps a bit of an understatement – this is a full reworking “from the ground up,” and it manages to fix some of the issues that’ve plagued it for a long time.

The feed now loads in a far snappier way and scrolls noticeably more fluidly. Pictures also spring to life a lot faster, and are able to be discarded slickly with a satisfying swipe up or down.
You won’t notice a huge amount aesthetically different here, aide from a couple of tweaks to comments and status input, but the background changes have definitely knocked a lot of the app’s killer bugs on the head.
That’s another first world problem sorted.
