The Nexus 7 arrives in the UK this week, but bad news: it’ll be here a day later than expected.
Google posted an update on the Google Play store, letting us know what’s happening. And for us Brits, the Nexus 7 won’t ship until Friday, July 20th. That’s a day later than it should’ve launched. And that’s if you pre-ordered.
But it’s not as simple as that. Going on anecdotal evidence, some lucky blighters have already got theirs.
All pre-ordered 8GB Nexus 7 devices will ship by Friday in the UK. So will your 16GB device, as long as you put your order in before June 30th. If you ordered after that, it’ll ship next week.
But it’s not all bad news. Some have already shipped. Last night we received the following email from a reader:
“Hi,
“Just to let you know, I just got my confirmation that my google nexus 7 is dispatched on on [sic] its way.
“Woohoo.
“Kind Regards
“Marc.”
And going by the buzz on Twitter, some Nexus 7 devices arrived as early as yesterday. So in some cases, Google is outdoing itself.
In the US, things are even less clean cut. Google has shipped all 8GB orders without any accessories. By the end of Thursday, it’ll have shipped all 16GB orders placed before July 11th, and they’ll be boosted to overnight shipping. All remaining 16GB orders will be mending their merry way by the end of next week. If you ordered your Nexus 7 with a Nexus Q, case, or charger, the Nexus 7 will ship this week, ahead of everything else.
In Canada, Google has shipped all 8GB orders, and 16GB ones will go in the next one to two weeks. In Australia, meanwhile, all orders will be fulfilled by the end of Thursday, and arrive in three to five days.
Phew. What’s been your experience of ordering from Google? Let us know in the comments.
