Need a bit of motivation for your morning run? Why not try being chased by ravenous a horde of Zombies? Horror-themed keep fit app Zombies, Run! is coming to Android and Windows Phone.
Already a hit on iOS, the Kickstarter-funded running app Zombies, Run! livens up your run with ‘missions’ to run a certain distance to collect medical supplies and weapons. As you run, audio clips simulate being chased by the undead and radio messages from your base offer encouragement and instructions. Once you get back home you can assign the resources you have collected on your run to different parts of your base, unlocking more missions and revealing more of the story.
You can listen to your own music during the mission (you would definitely do this during a real zombie apocalypse) and the game will intersperse your selections with snippets of dialogue and mission instructions as you go.
Co-creator and write Naomi Alderman said, “I’ve been overwhelmed by the response to the game on iPhone and iPod touch and it’s so exciting that we’re extending to other platforms. People have reported crying while playing through an emotional mission, they’ve been creating fan art and their own stories about the characters.”
The game is up on the Play store now for £5.49 (pricey, but it is your only hope of survival) and the Windows Phone version will follow in a few weeks with some WinPho-exclusive missions to sweeten the deal.
