Dropbox has updated its iOS client app, adding automatic photo upload features. As a bonus, the company is giving away up to 3GB if you use the new feature.
Dropbox has released version 1.5 of its iOS client app with a handful of new features, including the chance to boost your storage space for free. On running the app after the update you will be asked if you want to store your pictures and videos on Dropbox. Say yes, and the app will begin mirroring your camera roll to the cloud and send any new pics there as soon as you take them.
This feature has been a popular addition to the Android Dropbox app for a month or two and, just like on Android, Dropbox is offering some free space to help you try it out. You can ‘earn’ up to 3GB of extra storage space by storing you pics and clips in your Dropbox, doled out in chunks of 500MB as you upload. The space will remain even if you delete all your pics afterwards so you could use it as a sneaky way to get a Dropbox upgrade if you have enough pics on your phone (or just fancy taking LOADS of hi-res images of the wall or something.)
Other features in version 1.5 include a new gallery view (handy for those pics), the ability to move multiple files and a removal of the upload limit on file sizes.
