Nokia’s just unveiled its assault on the world of mobile phone eReading. Nokia Reading, which launches this week around the UK and Europe will let specific Windows Phone handsets access a ream of classic and new books, but it’s a future update that’s got us excited. Ready for Flipboard on your Lumia?

Nokia Reading is a free, Lumia-only app that aims to bring an easy, fluid and attractive eReading client to the Nokia Lumia 900, Lumia 800, Lumia 710 and Lumia 610. It boasts a library of thousands of books, ranging from free classics to current bestsellers like the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

The app boasts different themes and font sizes to let you adjust the colour and font settings to suit your visual needs, as well as books in localised languages around the world. So far, it sounds pretty straightforward – nothing we’ve not seen before, right? But then there’s News Stream.

The 100 best Windows Phone apps

News Stream is an update penciled in for Nokia Reading in the coming months that will transform the app into a social reader like Flipboard for iOS and Android. With your RSS feeds plugged in, it’ll present a sort of virtual magazine of your news, with pictures and fonts beautifully presented and laid out in a much more easy to manage fashion.

With that killer feature, Nokia could really have a must-have app on its hands. Nokia Reading should be available in the UK Windows Phone Marketplace now. Is it better than the Kindle app? Let us know your thoughts below.
