When Spotify launched its app platform, there were questions as to whether it could come up with enough ideas to justify its existence. After you’ve done review, lyrics and ticket-selling apps, where do you go from there? The answer is obvious: dating. Can your playlists find you Mr or Mrs right?
Two new apps have hit Spotify, both boasting of their ability to find you a soul mate based on what you listen to. Tastebuds and Fellody are both fine-tuned to bring you matches based on your audio-listenings, but in slightly different ways.
Tastebuds will collate your most listened-to artists or songs to bring you a range of results which can then be filtered by age or location. You can then send your would-be partners messages or songs. Fellody, meanwhile, allows you to drag and drop whole playlists into its engine, and it’ll spit out matches based on that data.
Spotify for Android gets a complete revamp
“Your taste in music is one of the most common topics of conversation when meeting someone, whether they are a date or just a new friend,” says Spotify’s app platform director Sten Garmark. “It’s hugely important to have compatible tastes. Harmony on Spotify might just be a great way to find new friends or start a new relationship!”
