Despite fears to the contrary, it seems as though Sony is making good on its promise to update most of its 2011 devices to Ice Cream Sandwich. Today we’ve had word that Sony has deployed the OTA update to the Tablet S, but also that it’s updated its roster of upcoming ICS updates for other devices. Is yours making the jump?

The Sony Tablet S, Sony’s primary answer to the iPad, should be receiving the OTA update as you read this. Sony’s pumped a load of nice new features into its Ice Cream Sandwich update, including the ability to multitask with ‘mini apps’ pushed to one side of the screen. Check it out here:

But the good news doesn’t end there. On top of the scheduled updates to the Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V and Xperia Ray (which are all motoring along), Sony’s confirmed that the following handsets will all be making the jump by the end of June:

The Xperia Arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia Neo, Xperia Mini, Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active and the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman.

Samsung and ICS: An analysis of a disaster

Some of those we already knew about, but some we didn’t. Either way, it’s great to see Sony working to get the update to as many of its handsets as possible. Just one thing: what about the current crop of phones – the Xperia S, P and U? We’re still waiting for a date on those…
