Finally. With Three, O2 and Vodafone Samsung Galaxy S2 owners now reveling in the glory of Ice Cream Sandwich, it was only a matter of time before T-Mobile managed to push its update out too. Want to get yours? Here’s how…

T-Mobile has ambled through the gates as the last UK operator to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to the Galaxy S2. It’s comes behind Three’s valiant effort to go first, with its update launching on March 20th, O2’s on the 27th March and Vodafone’s on April 17th.

Essential reading:

“We’ve been working closely with Samsung on this, and we can confirm that we will be rolling out the ICS update for Samsung Galaxy S2 from 22 April,” said a T-Mobile spokesperson in a statement to CNET.

However, you’re best off not taking that date too literally. While some T-Mobile Galaxy S2 users have reportedly been able to update via Samsung’s KIES software from the 20th, others still aren’t able to. However, we’re hearing that the majority should be able to get their hands on the T-Mobile update by the end of today (April 23rd).

Not happy with Samsung’s TouchWiz Android 4.0 bastardisation? Try out one of these amazing Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs.

Hey Avid: we’re a UK site and much of our reporting has been about the roll out ehre in Britain. Networks in America will be doing their own testing, unfortunately.

Have Orange released their ICS for SGS2? I haven’t seen their announcement and they’re missing from the above list.

      They’ve not yet, I believe.

Hi. I am on Orange and I got it on Friday. I just plugged in my phone to the computer via Kies and it ran the update. Just make sure you have charged your phone up first or Kies will refuse to do the update.

T-Mobile UK, I’m sorry to say!

Homeboy is right….this is just for Tmobile UK, not USA. o__O

  • Jumpman23

I talked with T-mobile tech support yesterday and from what I was told I don’t see any type of update happening tonite.

What a disappointing upgrade from Samsung / T-Mobile.  It pretty much looks and feels the same.  No immediate benefits spring to mind…..

It’s not as good as it could be, sadly – but console yourself by downloading Google Chrome right now. It’s the best Android browser by far and only runs on ICS.

”T-Mobile has ambled through the gates as the last UK operator to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to the Galaxy S2.”  Is Orange not a UK operator? What a stupid comment for a so called technology website!? And if this makes it through your stringent screening I will eat my hat.

See my above comment but you have been able to get it on Orange since last week. I’m sure you’ll apologise in light of this…

Got it on T-Mobile UK last night via KIES – had to keep unplugging it before KIES recognised that I needed a FIRMWARE upgrade - done easily no problems to note

do you need to plug it through usb, or can it be through wifi as well?

As usually T-Mobile and the USA are way behind on providing anything cutting edge or new.
