In the same day that HTC has unravelled its plans to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to a huge range of its old phones, we’ve managed to wangle a launch date for the Android 4.0 update to the Galaxy S2 from O2. Read on for the specifics.
Earlier this week we brought you news that Samsung has officially dated the Ice Cream Sandwich update for Monday 19th of March. Of course, while this is all well and good for anyone who bought an unlocked Galaxy S2 from the SIM-free shelves, history has taught us that these things take longer to worm their way through the network operators’ testing labs.
Vodafone, for instance, has said that it’s working on getting the update out “as quickly as possible,” while no date has been set for Three or the Everything Everywhere group. O2’s slightly more specific. Not a lot more, but more all the same.
Mid April. That’s the word straight from an O2 spokesperson. The Android Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 is being tested and will launch half way through next month for O2 customers.
Praise be! If you want to see what it’ll look like, watch this video of Android 4.0 running on the Galaxy S2.
