We’ve all been crowding around our RSS feeds for the past few months trying to eke out drops of information about the Samsung Galaxy SIII, but if newly leaked specs are anything to go by, we needn’t have worried. Samsung’s about to knock it out of the park.

Now we should mention to start with that these ‘inside sources’ are normally to be taken with a pinch of salt, but here the source in question seems to have pinpointed a set of highly believable specs based on what we’d sort of guessed anyway. And then some.

What are we looking at? The Galaxy SIII will boast a 4.8-inch display with a full 1080p HD, Blu-Ray quality resolution; LTE 4G connectivity, a 2-Meg front-facing camera and a rear-mounted 8-Meg camera. The processor is reportedly the same 1.5GHz quad-core monster we reported on last week.

It’s all wrapped up in a ceramic case. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the recipe for a damn fine smartphone: one that’s going to take some beating from Apple, Microsoft and RIM. When we reviewed the Galaxy Nexus we declared that “Android just graduated,” but now if all this comes to pass for the Galaxy SIII, then Android might have just won.

    I’ve got an iPhone 4, but after trying a Galaxy S2 recently, and being blown away, I’m seriously considering switching to Android for the S3 when it comes out unless Apple pulls something even better out of the bag. I’m not sure they’re up to it though…

    Support support support that’s the Apple mantra, if you want a firmware upgrade with Samsung then you have to buy the next model, just look at their flagship galaxy tab their first tablet, and their rollout of ICS to their smartphones.
    With Apple you get at least 3 years support and everybody gets the update at the same time

    Unless Samsung address this disregard of existing owners then they have definitely not won.

    Looks like it will be an amazing phone! I’ve just bought the galaxy s 2 on a 24 month contact so I probably won’t get to use the s 3 but the amazingness of the s 2 has made me a Samsung devotee!

    Waaaaaaaaaay too big. I am disappointed, as an S2 owner with big hands I can just about get away with using it one handed and it is at the limit of what I would be happy to carry in a pocket. I looked at the note at the weekend, well into manbag handbag territory and two hands needed, this isn’t far short that.

    My update is due in may but I am gonna hold back for the S3,  I was gonna go for the S2 when my mom updated to the S2 a few months back, but when I found out that the S3 was not to much longer I decided to wait for it, I have the original S1 at the moment and love the phone, cant wait for the S3

    A phone with a ceramic case and a 4.8-inch screen is definitely a phone I want. I use my current phone to watch videos all the time so the high resolution screen is nice. I mostly use the DISH Remote Access app to watch TV shows but I also use the YouTube app. I have a great HDTV at home with HD programming from DISH, my employer, and would love to take that high quality with me on my phone. I can’t wait for it to come out.
