As we crawl on towards E3 in June, more and more rumours are beginning to emerge regarding the supposed announcement of the Sony Playstation 4. Whether it drops this year or next, a new PS4 rumour from Forbes has revealed that it might take advantage of some insider Microsoft knowledge.
The word is that the PS4’s graphics processor won’t come from Nvidia as with the PS3, instead opting for a super-powerful GPU built by rivals AMD. That’s apparently word straight from an ex-AMD employee.
While AMD has officially kept quiet on the matter, the company’s CFO has make it known that gaming is going to drive much of AMD’s 2012 revenue, which does line up. So where do the Microsoft secrets come into it?

AMD is responsible for the GPU in the Xbox 360, and may well do repeat business for the also-rumoured Xbox 720. While company secrets are company secrets, you’ve got to think that moving to the enemy camp may be Sony’s way of making sure it doesn’t miss out on any new developments.
