Samsung hasn’t made much of a secret of its rivalry with Apple. Its smartphone ads of late have all made not-so-subtle jibes at the iPhone in a variety of situations. Now a new viral ad for the Samsung Galaxy Note in the US has continued the trend, pitting the two handsets against each other. The result? ‘Embarrassing.’
The new ad takes Samsung’s enormous Galaxy Note phone/tablet hybrid to the streets to show your average iPhone user what they’re missing out on by putting each phone through a series of tests.
The tests involved include sending a friend directions and creating an e-card; both tasks that are seemingly made easy thanks to the Note’s smart stylus.
Motorola slates Siri in Android ad
It’s all a bit skewed, of course. The ad takes a fully trained up and rehearsed Galaxy Note user and pits him against an unsuspecting iPhone user in the street. She claims to be ‘upset’ and ‘embarrassed’ at her phone’s inability to compete, but it’s hardly a fair test: the iPhone 4S could complete each challenge ably with the right apps pre-installed.
Still, in marketing terms it’s score one for Samsung, and another notch on its ‘anti-Apple ad’ post. Maybe Sammie could go after RIM next time? Watch the video below to see the smartphone head-to-head for yourself.
