Today the Xbox 360 gets yet another media app. Crackle joins the likes of Sky Go, Netflix and Lovefilm in bring movie and TV streaming to Microsoft’s console – but unlike those, it offers content that’s totally free. Yeah, free.
In all honesty Crackle’s selection of TV and films isn’t particularly wow-worthy. Aside from teenage boy trouser-botherer Wild Things, Guy Ritchie’s ill-advised flirtation with art house cinema Revolver, Kirsten Dunst comedy Dick and camp video game adaptation Street Fighter, there’s not much we’ve heard of in the film section – though if you don’t like the sound of free Van Damme on tap, well, good day to you. TV highlights on the service meanwhile include The Tick and Dilbert.
Apple’s worst nightmare: Sky just turned everything into a Sky box
Still, it’s free (to Xbox Live Gold subscribers, at least), so we can’t really complain too much – and movies are uncut and uncensored, which is nice. The Crackle app is a 75MB download, and available in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia right…now.
