Pure has finally launched its Pure Music streaming service, having announced it in towards the tail end of 2011. It’s a fully-featured Spotify rival, but does it have what it takes to set it apart?

Pure Music is available on PC and Mac via TheLounge.com, as well as through Pure’s internet-connected radios and a Pure Lounge app for iOS and Android. That app’s set to land on ‘as many platforms as possible’ in the coming months.

Why subscription streaming should terrify you

Let’s talk price. If you hurry, you can sign up for a free month’s trial in the UK. After that you’re looking at £4.99 per month for all-you-can-eat streaming, or – as of March – £9.99 per month to cache your playlists and songs offline.

£9.99 for offline mobile access ties up exactly with Spotify’s price plans, so what’s better? Well, if you’re the proud owner of one of Pure’s web radios you’ll be able to listen to your tunes through them completely painlessly.

There’s also podcasts and the ability to buy songs to keep forever.
