Last year, we published our Best Android apps of all time list, one hundred of the finest apps you can run on your Google phone or tablet. It’s proved to be one of the most popular posts we’ve ever published, so it’s only natural that we keep it bang up to date. We’ve just given it a spring clean for 2012: click through to see what’s in and what’s out.
The last year has seen some major changes for Android, as well as explosive growth. Google finally launched a desktop version of the Android Market app store, so we’ve dropped the other app store finder services from the list, such as AppBrain. We’ve also dropped a couple of apps for older devices now rendered redundant by Android updates, such as Apps2SD.
In their place come a new breed of glorious 3D and addictive games, such as Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 3 and the streaming service OnLive, as well as new and improved versions of older Android app classics, such as Photoshop Touch for tablets, and Read It Later.
Google also rolled out a few new essential services of its own – many of these are now included in Ice Cream Sandwich as standard, but are available on the Market for older phones too, such as Google Music and Google Videos, so in they go too.
