Vimeo, the video hosting and sharing site that acts as a sort of thinking-man’s YouTube, has begun closed tests of a complete site redesign and a bunch of new features. Wanna get involved? Read on to find out how.
Vimeo now achieves pretty massive viewing figures; in December 2011 the site pulled in 65 million monthly uniques. Vimeo CEO Dae Mellencamp said of the site’s success: “Vimeo’s growth and dedication to maximizing the user experience was the catalyst for this redesign.

“The result protects the essence of Vimeo while allowing for future growth of audience and features in a simple, intuitive environment,” Mellencamp concludes.
The new look puts the video first, by enlarging the full-width video player to twice the size of its previous incarnation. There’s also better searching options and cleaner presentation across the board. “Our goal was to strike a balance between friendly and elegant while still preserving our fun personality.”
The new look is available as a closed test for select Vimeo members as of now. If you’d like to take part, find out more here.
