Lovefilm has been ramping up its streaming service in response to Netflix‘ UK invasion this month, first landing some new content deals, and now rolling out a Lovefilm app for LG smart TVs – one that even works with LG’s new fangled gesture-sensing remote control.

As of today, you’ll be able to install Lovefilm Instant on any LG Smart TV from the line up launched in April 2011. Subscribers can get access to the same movies they can on other smart devices, but there’s a slight twist: the service can be controlled by LG’s new Magic Remote control, which uses gesture and voice recognition (Powered by Nuance, the folks behind Siri‘s iPhone 4S skills, in case you were wondering).

I want to love Lovefilm, but I can’t

Lovefilm Instant on LG Smart TVs doesn’t make use of voice control on the platform, as it does with Kinect on the Xbox 360, but it’s a useful little extra nonetheless.

Lovefilm is now available on more than 175 internet connected devices, most of which are smart TVs from Sony and Samsung.
