Just put your order in for the Asus Transformer Prime but have the patience of a saint? You might want to commence kicking yourself; Asus has announced an updated model of the laptop/tablet hybrid coming in June this year.
The Asus Transformer Prime TF700 adds a fistful of improvements on the original Prime, which is currently on the receiving end of UK delays due to WiFi issues. The TF700 will sport a better display with a higher resolution of 1920 x 1200.
It’ll also up the camera ante, bringing the megapixel count on the front facing cam up from 1.2 to 2, while accommodating the changes with a slightly redesigned chassis.
“In relation to the recently-announced TF700 model,” begins Asus on its official blog, “this product is unlikely to be available in the UK before June at the earliest and no pricing details have been announced.”
That’s not exactly true, though, is it Asus? No UK pricing for the Eee Pad Transformer Prime TFT700 has been announced, but it’s been pegged as being $100 more than the original Transformer Prime in the US.
By our maths, if the current Prime is £499 (with keyboard dock), then this update will probably cost £599, assuming that $100 difference doesn’t change much in the currency crossover, as is often the case.
