Surprising news, this. Despite the fact that RIM is having to continually drop the price of the BlackBerry PlayBook, to the point that you’ll probably get one posted through your door soon, word is that there are two new models on the way this year.
First up will be a 7-inch tablet that should act as a straight sequel to the PlayBook. There’s no proposed specs, but it’s scheduled to launch in April, according to sources close to RIM. This should coincide with the launch of BB10, the next-generation BlackBerry operating system.

A larger 10-inch tab is expected towards the end of the year. The PlayBook’s been a disaster for RIM, but it’s a time where no tech manufacturer can really be seen to not have a tablet on offer, so RIM’s having to swallow its pride and go for rounds two and three.
Hopefully the new BB10 software will turn things around. The real problem for the tablet has been a lack of developer support, which has lead to an embarrassingly low amount of apps. Introducing a new OS may help gain interest amongst the devs, but it’ll probably be the final nail in the coffin for the current PlayBook.
