You can’t throw a stone without hitting a start-up offering to recycle your old mobile for cash these days. You might want to stop throwing those rocks though now that Apple is in the business of doing just this: it’s got lawyers, after all.

You read that right: Apple has launched its own Recycling Programme in the UK, letting you trade in an old iPhone, iPad, Mac, iPod, or any old mobile, Windows laptop or desktop. You drop in the details in a simple form, and they tell you how much you’ll get.

It’s currently offering £177 for a 16GB iPhone 4 in perfect condition, though only about £30 for older laptops. They’ll even accept busted gadgets, though don’t expect so much for them.

The service, run by professional IT thrower-awayers Dataserv, is up and running now if you’re looking for a little cash back to sate your new Apple gadget lust.

Will you be using this service? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments.
