Street Fighter 4 HD may have been out on the iPhone for nigh-on two years, but if you want to play it on Android you’ll have to do so on an LG phone. But fear not, users of HTC/Sony Ericsson/Samsung Android blowers: you’ll get your chance to party with Ken, Guile and the rest come May this year.

Yes, according to a blog post at Android.HD, LG’s exclusivity deal will come to an end in May 2012, allowing you to play Street Fighter 4 HD in all its pixel-packed glory on any supported Android device. You’ll most likely need a phone with a WVGA (800 x 480) resolution, although a proper 720p HD display will take full advantage of the game’s retina-punchingly crisp visuals.

A tale of two platforms: Why GTA 3 reveals Android’s greatest flaw

That’s still a few months away, of course, but don’t get too miffed. It’s worth remembering that (a) Street Fighter IV HD isn’t coming out in the US until later this month and (b) there aren’t any LG phones in the UK capable of running it, even if it were out now – the LG Nitro HD is a US-only handset. So you’re not really missing out on anything yet anyway – just start saving those pennies and practicing those special moves for May. Or, we guess, play it on iPhone.
